Tissue maintenance and regeneration is dependent on stem cells and increasing evidence has shown to decline with age. Stem cell based-aging is thought to influence therapeutic efficacy. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are involved in tissue regeneration.
Here, we discuss the effects of age-related changes on MSC properties considering their possible use in research or regenerative medicine.
